A collective reading and discussion of the text 'The author stripped bare by its employees: artistic authorship in the twenty-first century and beyond' by Lisa Rosendahl

How do we relate to authorship?

In this Reading Room, we'll collectively read and discuss Lisa Rosendahl's essay ‘The author stripped bare by its employees: artistic authorship in the twenty-first century and beyond’.

Rosendahl argues how rearticulating our relationship to the notion of the author can serve as a way to comment on art as a symptom of the society that supports it.

Discussing the work of Bernadette Corporation, Claire Fontaine, Goldin+Senneby, and Pierre Huyghe & Philippe Parreno, Rosendahl confronts us with authorship as inevitable part of the game of art (as we know it) and asks if we should not change the game instead of the framing device.
